Wilson Frank Gartner, age 78 of Chesapeake City, MD passed away peacefully on February 20, 2017. He was born on March 15, 1938 in Los Angeles, CA to the late, Frank and Madolyn (Wilson) Gartner.
Wilson retired from DuPont and was a proud life member of Friendship Fire Department in Woodbury, NJ, serving for over 50 years. In addition, Wilson volunteered at Union Hospital Adult Day Services, as well as Wilmington and Western Railroad for many years. Wilson loved playing cribbage and collecting cribbage boards, everything trains, and most especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Wilson is survived by his stepdaughter, Michelle Adams and her husband, Jerry of Elkton, MD; step grandson, Michael Collins; stepson, Bob Keenan of North East, MD; step granddaughter, Molly Keenan; step grandson, Sean Keenan; sisters: Karen Gartner and her husband, Scott Garrigan of Bethlehem, PA; and Toni Pistun and her husband, Phil of Columbia, SC; and sister-in-law, Benay Carlino of Lynn, MA.
He is preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of thirty years, Barbara Gartner and his dear friend and brother, Wayne Gartner.
A Celebration of Wilson's Life will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 12:00PM at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 318 George Street, Chesapeake City, MD 21915. A visitation will be held one hour prior beginning at 11:00AM where family and friends are welcome to attend. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to "Wilmington and Western Railroad" and sent in care of the funeral home; P.O. Box 248 Rising Sun, MD 21911.
