Sandra Kay Shirey, 67, of Colora, MD, passed away at her home May 26, 2013 after a long illness with her husband by her side.
Born in Beckley, WV on April 26, 1946, Sandy was the daughter of Irene D. Renault of Vero Beach, FL and the late Joseph D. Kulcsar. She was a licensed cosmetologist and a devoted wife and mother. She served for several years as a volunteer working with her husband in the Baltimore Police Department and as the secretary of the Colora Civic Association. She loved birds, cats and her home and was known for her beautiful garden.
She and her husband Bert Shirey, who survives her, met when she was 15 and they were married July 3, 1965. She is also survived by her sister Joetta Winters of Vero Beach, FL and her brother Donald Kulcsar of Melbourne, FL. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Elizabeth Kathleen who died in 1997.
A service will be held at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD 21911 on Friday May 31, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. Friends and family may call at the funeral home beginning at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow at West Nottingham Cemetery.
