Ruby Jean Chambers, age 89, of Rising Sun, MD passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 12, 2017. Born on November 24, 1927 in Richwood, WV, she is the daughter of the late Shirley Evans and Alta Muriel (McTheney) Taylor.

Ruby was a devoted Christian, reading her bible often. She was a founding member of the Church of the Nazarene in Rising Sun, MD and loved her church family. Ruby was very hospitable and never met a stranger. She was famous for baking her cakes, making dresses for children and adults, and making quilts. The most loving mother and best friend to all, Ruby will be remembered for her southern hospitality and southern cooking.

Ruby is survived by her five children: David Swim, Patricia Jepsen, Deborah Sharpley, John Chambers, and Richard "Clark" Chambers; 20 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; brother, Frank Evans; and sister, Mary Jo Reece. In addition to her parents, Ruby is preceded in death by her second husband, John P. Chambers; daughter, Linda Swim Dalton; and first husband, David Swim, Sr.

A celebration of Ruby's life will be held at 11am on Monday, November 20, 2017 at the Church of the Nazarene, 2626 Jacob Tome Memorial Highway, Colora, MD 21917, where friends and family may visit beginning at 10am. Burial will follow at West Nottingham Cemetery.
