Obituary

Ronald Joseph Smith, Jr., age 58, of Rising Sun, MD passed away on October 13, 2018. Born on September 7, 1960 in Upland, PA. Ron was the son of Shirley Ann (Booth) Smith and the late Ronald Joseph Smith, Sr.

Ron moved to Rising Sun when he was 12 years old and became very active within the community, which he grew to love. He attended Rising Sun High School and then transferred to West Nottingham Academy. After graduation, he went on to attend Harford Community College where he received an Associate's Degree. Ron owned and operated his own HVAC business for over 30 years. He was an extremely hard worker, but also known to play just as hard. Ron loved sports and coached many teams throughout his life. He also loved horses and motorcycles; he always enjoyed riding at the Ocean City, MD and Daytona, FL bike weeks. A well loved and very generous man, Ron will always be remembered for his love of having fun with his friends and family.

In addition to his mother, Ron is survived by his significant other, June Marie Monger, of Bear, DE; son, Chad Smith and his fiancé, Samantha of Baltimore, MD; daughter, Cassidy Smith of Rising Sun, MD; brother Ed Smith and his wife Jennifer, of Port Deposit, MD; three sisters: Stephanie Kaczorowski and her husband, Joseph, of Seaford, DE, Terrie Boothe and her husband, Gary of Hopewell, VA, and Debbie Schmid of Lancaster, PA; one niece and four nephews.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Jose Ma and his staff in Perryville, MD, Dr. Khungar at University of Penn Hospital, and all of the medical staff at University of Penn Hospital, Union Hospital, and University of Maryland Hospital for helping take such wonderful care of Ron.

A visitation will be held from 10:00am to 12:00pm on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at R.T. Foard Life Event Center, 111 S. Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911. A celebration of Ron's life will be held at 12:00pm following the visitation. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to "Mason Dixon Post 194" or "Community Fire Company of Rising Sun" and sent in care of the funeral home, PO Box 248, Rising Sun, MD 21911.
