Mary Helen "Dolly" Brown, nee Goss, died peacefully Friday morning October 11, 2013 at home with her children at her side.

Born in Baltimore on February 27, 1929, Dolly was the daughter of the late Andrew and Regina Goss. She was preceded in death by Francis P. "Brownie" Brown, her loving husband of 55 years. Dolly is survived by her eight children: Frank Brown (Jude), Jim Brown, Amy Brown, Beverly Widmer (Charlie), Cecilia Brown, Lydia Brown, Janine Park (Leonard), and Elizabeth Porter (Doug). She is also survived by 9 grandchildren: Melanie Abray, Christopher Brown, Matthew Brown, Travis Brown, Steven Park, Michelle Park, Evan Benton, Carrick Porter, and Clement Porter, and 8 great grandchildren whom she adored. Dolly leaves behind 3 siblings: Robert Goss, Elizabeth Stoops, and Marilou Bockstie.

Dolly was an active and devoted member of St. Rose of Lima Church in Chesapeake City, where she served with love, singing in the choir like an angel for 65 years. She was also a member of the ecumenical council, the Cecil County Choral Society, and served as president of the Cecil County School Board. She loved her family, gardening in her flower beds, watching the Ravens, and sitting in the September sun. Dolly will be greatly missed by the many who knew and loved her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church on Tuesday October 15 at 11:00 a.m. A visitation will be held Monday evening October 14 from 6 – 8:00 p.m. at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 318 George St., Chesapeake City, MD 21915. Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery. Memorial contribution checks may be made payable to Seasons Hospice and mailed to the funeral home.
