Mary Ann Griffin, "Mimi", age 82 of North East, MD, formerly of Newark, DE passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 12, 2018. Born April 27, 1936 in Clay, West Virginia. Mary Ann was the daughter of the late Mary Agnes (Legg) Keener.

Mary Ann was an active member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Newark, DE for many years. She was a hard-working woman who worked until she was 70 years old. She was an entrepreneur who was particularly interested in catering events. When her daughters were married she took special care to cater their special days for them. Mary Ann enjoyed entertaining her family and close friends during the holidays, making sure that everyone had a memorable time. She also enjoyed going to the beach and playing cards, especially Bunko and Bridge.

A dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, Mary Ann cherished her family and had many fond memories raising her children in Newark, DE. She was very involved in her children's activities whether it was Girl Scouts or one of their High School extracurriculars. A talented seamstress, Mary Ann utilized her skill to sew her daughters' dresses. Her caring nature coupled with her humorous and witty personality made it very easy to be loved by those around her. She was very involved with her community and was even awarded the title of "Miss Brookside" - woman of the year. Mary Ann will be truly missed by all who knew her.

Mary Ann is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Donald Griffin of North East, MD; four daughters: Sue Shinton and her husband, Dave of Newark DE, Beverly Griffin-Quinn and her husband, Joe of Springfield, PA, Kathy Griffin-Graham and her husband, Gary of New Castle, DE and Kelly Jones and her husband, John of Landenberg, PA. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren: Kelly, David, Scott, Thomas, Kelsey, Aimee, Megan, Mariah, Karlee, Nicholas and Paige; seven great-grandchildren; niece, Rosie Lewis of Mt. City, TN; nephew, James "Pork" McFarland and his wife, Linda of Gordonville, PA and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Including her mother, Mary Ann was also preceded in death by her four brothers and two sisters.

A service will be held in Mary Ann's honor at 11am on Friday, August 17, 2018 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD 21911, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to "Friendship House Clothing Bank" and sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 248, Rising Sun, MD 21911.
