Obituary

John Edward Collins, age 82 of Rising Sun, MD passed away on July 13, 2019. He was born on January 11, 1937 in Chester, PA to the late Edward Ambrose Collins and Gertrude Elizabeth (Bustz) Collins.

John was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 194 and the VFW Post 2819 in Rising Sun, MD. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was a member of Alliance of Bikers Aimed Toward Education (A.B.A.T.E) of PA. And was a long time member of The Chester County Chapter 64 and The Lancaster Chapter 65 where he enjoyed attending the iconic Wakefield Pig Roast and The Abate of PA Hazen old time Biker Party John was an outdoorsman. He was an avid deer hunter and collected a wide variety of guns throughout his life. John enjoyed camping with his family in Driftwood, PA. When the fair or a festival was in town, he made sure to be in attendance he also loved spending time with his family and visiting many places such as Fairs the Apple Festivals , The Hamburger Festival , Washington DC bus trips to visit the Veterans wall , bus trips to Atlantic City Casinos , Farmers Markets and many more interesting sites . John was a talented woodworker and created many pieces throughout his life. John was also known as HOBO and lived in Upland Pa. and was a loving Father and Husband Spending his life with the love of his life Maryann.

John joined the United States Marine Corp in 1954 and served until 1957 John and his family moved to Rising Sun Md he worked at jobs where he had many talents. Wiley manufacturing in Port Deposit as a ship welder / Construction jobs / and retired from the NVF company in Kenneth Square where he was a painter in tube finishing.

John is survived by his wife, Maryann Collins; daughter, Denise Russell and her husband, Jesse Reed; sons: John Collins, Jr. and his wife, Christine and David Collins; four grandchildren: John R. Russell, Jr. and his wife, Crystal Logan, Bruce J. Collins, Tiffany M. Russell, and Joshua D. Collins; and five great grandchildren: Austin J. Tomlinson, Caleb L. Russell, Maddison Collins, Cameron Collins, and Kailynn Collins.

Semper Fi Marine you will be missed but never forgotten.

A graveside service for John will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.
