John B. Seweryn, "Jack", age 80, of Wilmington, DE, passed away August 18, 2017. Born March 13, 1937 in Ringtown, PA, Jack was the son of the late Peter Seweryn and the late Vesta (Laudeman) Guinn.

Jack was a graduate of Ringtown High Class of 1955, in Ringtown Pa. While in high school, Jack was a standout member of the Ringtown All State Choral group. His vocal fortitude prompted a successful beginning in both the Philadelphia and New York theater. Jack had a strong presence in many Off-Broadway and Dinner Theater Musicals.

Upon retiring from a life on stage for many years, Jack pursued a Bachelor's degree in Business from Syracuse University with a minor in Horticulture. He worked for Conrail for many years before venturing into another great passion, becoming a Master Gardener. Jack Was accepted into the Longwood Foundation Master Gardener Program for a 2yr program. Jack founded a landscaping business in 1976 called "Jack and the Beanstalk". He designed and installed a wide variety of gardens in Delaware's Chateaux County and nearby Pennsylvania.

Jack did notable landscaping work as a Master Gardener for: Quasi-Italianate garden at Heathergreen Commons Condominiums, Berms of Evergreens at The 1401 condominiums, Modified French garden at the Devon Condominiums, Gardens flanking entrances to all buildings at the Paladin Club, Pavilions and pergola at the Bellevue Tennis Club, Beds of Texas blue bonnets for Pamela Copeland's wildflower woods at the Mt. Cuba Center, and lastly again in "The Secret Garden" at The 1401 condominiums.

Jack was the recipient of many awards for his Horticulture skills to include:
*Philadelphia Flower shows first prize for an Urban Wild Garden, awarded jointly to Jack and the Beanstock and Vicks Wildgardens
*Philadelphia Flower shows first prize for Small Urban Gardens with Water element, two consecutive years, 1978 and 1979.
*Prize for Urban Garden Sanctuary, Society Hill, Philadelphia.
*First prize, Bonsai Collectors contest, Head House Square, Philadelphia.
*First place in the Bancroft Parkway neighborhood competition, for the redesign of the Carolina Thomas Property.

Jack is survived by his sisters Audrey Kondratowicz- Palmerton,Pa.; Andrea Frantz-Frackville,Pa.; and Renee Blackwell - Kingston,Pa. ; brother George Guinn- Pottsville,Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

Services for Jack will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to The 1401 Condominiums :(memo) The Secret Garden and sent in care of R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 W. Main St., Newark, DE 19711.
