Helen Inez Bolen Shafer, age 78 of Rising Sun, MD, passed away on November 11, 2012 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Sneedville, TN on June 22, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Tyler and Martha Seal. Helen was a member at Janes United Methodist Church in Rising Sun, MD where she was active in the choir and walking club. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking and music, but her greatest joy in life was being with her family. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.
Helen is survived by 2 daughters, Linda Pierce and husband, Timothy, of Rising Sun, MD, Paula Rixham and husband, Bruce, of Rising Sun, MD.; a stepson, Bob Shafer and wife Samantha of Wilmington, NC, 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Charles Shafer, Donald Bolen and son Stephen Bolen.
A service honoring Helen's life is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday November 17, 2012 at Janes United Methodist Church in Rising Sun, MD with a visitation at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Rising Sun, MD. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cecil County Pregnancy Center c/o R.T.
