George Rex Lloyd, age 64, of Port Deposit, MD passed away peacefully on August 20, 2018 aboard the Carnival Pride Cruise Ship. Born on August 16, 1954 in Torrance, CA, he was the son of the late Julius and Letha (Thompson) Lloyd.

George served his country proudly in the US Army for 8 years during the Vietnam War era. He continued serving with the Department of the Army for 30 more years as a Housing Management Specialist. George's hobbies included: fishing, boating, cooking and grilling, traveling, going on cruises, watching sci-fi, and playing casino slots. He was the most wonderful story teller who always relished experiencing and seeing new places. "Every day is Saturday," as George would say. He will be remembered as a kind hearted and gentle person, and will be missed by all who knew him.

George is survived by his loving wife, together 20 years and married for 17, Judy Eyet-Lloyd; daughter, Rebecca Ditmore and her husband, Mark Sagosz; niece, who was more like a second daughter, Samantha Leaf and her wife, Carrie Smith; two grandchildren: Alyson Ditmore and Miles Leaf-Smith; beloved dog, Sonny; two special brothers-in-law: Terry Eyet and his wife, Deb, and Jerry Eyet and his wife, Sue; two brothers: Joe Lloyd and his wife, Sharon, and Jack Lloyd and his wife, Jane; and two sisters: Jerri Shourd and her husband, Mike, and Terri Cutshall and her husband, Ron.

In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by his three brothers: Wayne, Tom, and Jim Lloyd.

A celebration of George's life will be held at 12pm on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the R.T. Foard Life Event Center, 111 S. Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911, where friends and family may visit beginning at 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to a charity of your choice.
