Obituary

Ethel R. Zabenko, age 88 of Newark, DE passed away on January 16, 2018 after her brave battle with Dementia/Alzheimer's. She was born on June 3, 1929 in Wilmington, DE to the late Melvin Weaver and Evelyn (Shew) Weaver.

Ethel was a lifelong member of Newark United Methodist Church where she was an active member of numerous women's organizations. Ethel was a proud graduate of the University of Delaware where she received her Bachelor's Degree. She became a Registered Dietician and worked for the Veterans Administration in Elsmere, DE for many years. Ethel enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling the country, and she was an avid reader. Throughout Ethel's life, she struggled with a severe hearing impairment, which she handled with an incredible amount of grace. It was her final wish to create a charity to help those with a similar impairment.
