Elma Ann Sheppard Brooks, age 88, of Elkton, MD, passed away on Monday, August 6, 2012 at her home. She was born on July 16, 1924 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Ludwig Sheppard and Edna D. (Flanegan) Plank.

Elma had an ardent love for all animals and her beautiful home.

She is survived by her sisters, Joan P. McKeown of Elkton, MD and Eugenia P. Emerson of Turlock, CA; companion and friend, John Henderson of Elkton, MD; nephews, Robert Donnell (Don) McKeown, Kingswood, TX and Dr. Scott Emerson of Los Banos, CA; nieces; Deborah (Debbie) McKeown of Newark, DE and Marcia E. Trahan of San Anselmo, CA. Her great nephews are Patrick and Scott McKeown, Hans Emerson and great nieces are Paige and Bailey Trahan and Chloe Emerson.

A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 pm on Monday, August 13, 2012 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, PA, 259 E. Main Street, Elkton, MD 21921, where friends and family may call one hour prior. Memorial contributions may be made to The Humane Society of the United States, American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals, or Wounded Warrior Project, c/o the funeral home.
