Obituary

Elizabeth "Betty" Sandlin of Elkton, MD, originally of South Philly, age 82, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones, on Thursday, September 6, 2018. She was born on January 14, 1936 to the late Albert and Lucy (Marino) Ianieri.

She is survived by: Al Sandlin of Elkton, MD, Tom (Suzanne) Sandlin of Philadelphia, PA and John (Linda) Sandlin of Rising Sun, MD, Karen Schell of North Hampton, PA, Dave (Caroline) Sandlin of Largo, FL; thirteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren ; two sisters: Marie Allison and Lucille (Don) Grasso; brother, Vincent Ianieri; two sisters-in-law; Mary Lu Ianieri and Joan Ianieri; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar "Sandy" Sandlin, son, Michael Sandlin, grandson, Thomas Sandlin, Jr., two brothers: Stanley Ianieri and Joe Ianieri; and sister, Theresa Chmielowski.

Betty was known to live life to the fullest. She had an amazing energy and spirit that gave her the will to fight a 7+ year battle against colon cancer. She was a story-teller extraordinaire that included her years at Robinson's Diner and Carl Wolfe Studio as a photographer's assistant. But her favorite stories were the ones about the people she loved with all her heart especially her children, grandchildren and all the special people in her life.

A visitation will be held from 7pm-9pm on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD 21911. Additional visiting time will be held on Thursday, 13, 2018 from 10am-11am at the funeral home, followed by an 11:30am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, 150 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD 21911. Burial will take place at All Saints Cemetery in Wilmington, DE.
