Obituary

Eleanor Mae Hrubesh of Port Deposit, MD, age 85, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, March 9, 2017. She was born on December 25, 1931 in Port Deposit, MD to the late William Thomas Duff, Sr., and Ruth Elizabeth (Felpel) Duff.

Eleanor loved music, dancing, spending time with her family and friends and sitting by the Susquehanna River.

During her life, Eleanor thrived on balancing family and career. In the early years, she was hired as one of the first group of female barrack clerks with the MD State Police at the Conowingo barrack from September 1953 until September 1955. After raising her family, she returned to the work force in many administrative positions such as The Baptist Book Store in Lutherville; Backer, Spielvogel, & Bates advertising in Bel Air; Fallston General Hospital in the Physical Therapy Department, and finally in her early 70's, retiring from Cook Motor Cars in Aberdeen. During the later years, she continued to stay active with different church organizations, and volunteering at Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace, MD.

Eleanor is survived by her two sons, Kenneth A. Reid, and his wife, Kathy of Bel Air, MD, and Bradley Reid, of Nottingham, MD; three grandchildren, Kenneth Reid, Brian Reid and his wife, Cortney of Bel Air, and Morgan Reid of Havre de Grace; sister, Janice Kamp and her husband, Kenneth of Nottingham, PA, three great-grandchildren, Rylee, Audriana, and Livia, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Eleanor is preceded in death by her first husband Ralph Reid, husband, David Hrubesh, brother, William T. Duff, Jr., son, Craig H. Reid.

A memorial service in Eleanor's honor will be held 3:30 p.m. on Saturday March 18, 2017 at Hopewell United Methodist Church, 1811 Hopewell Road, Port Deposit MD, 21904.
