Obituary for Dan Edwin Johnson

April 5, 1955 - March 10, 2018
Colora, Maryland | Age 62

Dan Edwin Johnson was born April 5, 1955 in E. Millinocket, Maine to Sulo Edwin Johnson and Margaret Ann (Murray) Gillis. Suddenly, on March 10, 2018 Dan was called home to be with the Lord. Dan lived the past 12 years in Colora, MD with his loving wife Tammy.

Dan was a Certified Welding Inspector by trade and educator at heart. He always knew how to accomplish what others thought impossible. Dan was kind and soft spoken, he always had the time to answer a question or solve a problem no matter how big or how small. There wasn't a job that was done for Dan that didn't come with a thank you. Dan loved to make others laugh in any ridiculous way possible and cherished every second he was able to spend with his family. His joy was truly seen through the love of his grandchildren who were the most important people in his life.

Dan loved packing the grandkids in the truck for a beach day and fishing at Cape Henlopen or for a fun day at Diggerland. Dan could be found sitting on an excavator with a grandson on each knee or showing his granddaughter how to swing a crane to knock down the bowling pins. Dan was called Grampy Father by his bestie Mason and the name stuck. Grampy Father was always available for a game of hangman, word rhyming, dinner at GC or a nap while watching Bonanza.

Dan is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Tammy and his children, Casey Lea Johnson, Danielle Marie Aronowitz (Jeremy), Ian Bleu Johnson (Jenna), Kara Lynn Phillips (Derek), Shayna Marie Ivanitskyy (Dmytro) and Alex Jay Bucharelli. His sister Elizabeth Cutliffe (Robert), and brother John Johnson (Susan).

Dan leaves his grandson James Louis Marshall, III who first made him a grandfather in 2002. Honorary grandson, Joshua Tyler Chandler. His cherished and beloved granddaughter Alivia Marie Chandler, the twinkle in his eyes and best friend, Mason Alexander Phillips, name sake Bryson Daniel Phillips, who filled a spot in his heart that he didn't know was empty, his adoring grandchildren Gabrielle and Aubrey Johnson, Eli and Harper Aronowitz. Dan was anxiously awaiting the birth of his new granddaughter Lilliya Ivanitskyy who is due in April.

Dan was predeceased by his son and name sake Jesse Dan Johnson, his sister Donna Breton, his parents Sulo Edwin Johnson and Margaret Gillis (Murray).

Dan will be laid to rest at West Nottingham Cemetery in Colora, MD on March 20, 2018 at 11:00am. With a grave side service officiated by Father Jim Yeakel.
