Clara Jean Martin, age 81, of Elkton, MD, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Friday, September 15, 2017 after a courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. Born on May 25, 1936 in Grethel, KY, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Octava (Parsons) Hamilton.

Clara married her loving husband, Luther G. Martin in 1955 in Pikeville, KY. She worked as a dedicated independent caregiver and was an active member of the Five Rivers First Assembly of God in Elkton, MD. She lived her faith in her Lord and showed it through her deeds. Clara loved Gaither Brothers music and absolutely adored her grandchildren. She will be remembered for being a superb mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all.

Clara is survived by her two sons: Doug Ray Martin and his wife, Alice, and Michael "Mike" Luke Martin; four daughters: Rita Faye Hall and her husband, Tom, Phyllis Martin and her companion, Curtis, Lois Gail Martin and her husband, Dennis, and Tracy Jean Stevenson and her companion, Michael; eleven grandchildren: Christopher Martin, Shane Stevenson, Matthew Stevenson and his wife, Krystin, Steven Hall, Tom Hall, Dylan Martin, Jamie Gill and his wife, Crystal, Doug Martin and his wife, Shemiah, Nicole Jackson, Latrice Bishop, and Steven Feiler; six great-grandchildren; and brother, Palmer Hamilton.

In addition to her parents, Clara is preceded in death by her husband, Luther G. Martin; and four brothers: Edfert, Freeman, Gillis, and Eddie.

The family would like to send their gratitude and appreciation to the staff at Calvert Manor Healthcare Center and special thanks to Desiree Thomas and Laura Cuebes for their outstanding care and compassion.

A celebration of Clara's life will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 259 E. Main Street, Elkton, MD 21921, with a visitation beginning at 10AM. Burial will follow at Cherry Hill Methodist Cemetery. In addition to flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to "Cure PSP" and sent care of the funeral home.
