Charles "Charlie" M. Gibb Jr., age 71, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2019. He was born in Wilmington, DE on August 19, 1948 to the late Charles M. Gibb Sr. and Mary E. (Wilson) Gibb.

A lifelong Newark residence, Charlie graduated from Newark High School in 1967 and went on to proudly serve 6 years in the U.S. Navy. He also served an additional 5 years in the U.S. Naval Reserves. He retired from the DuPont Pencader Vespel site after 37 years. An accomplished amateur photographer, Charlie was recently inducted into the Delaware Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. He also received a WSTW Homie Award for promoting local bands through his photography. Charlie loved music in general, attending many rock shows, organ concerts, and tribute bands. His favorite band was the Beatles. Some of his free time was spent flying in his friend's personal plain, taking photos, attending military airshows, and eating shepherd's pie. Charlie ended most of his phone calls and visits with friends and family with "I love you."

Charlie is survived by his brother, Bill (Charlotte) Gibb of North East, MD; three nieces: Kelly (Robert) Piasecki of Philadelphia, PA; Megan (Cameron) Sweeney of Dover, DE; and Caitlin (Richard) Egan of Elkton, MD; two nephews: Jeremy (Laura) Gibb of Dover, DE and Tanner Gibb of North East, MD; three great nephews and one great niece.

An evening viewing will be held for Charles M. Gibb, Jr. from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 6, 2019 at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE 19711. A celebration of Charlie's life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, October 7, 2019 at the funeral home, where friends and family may begin visiting at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Rd, Bear, DE 19701. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made payable to "Helen F. Graham Cancer Center" and sent in care of R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home.
