Betty Louise Holbrook, age 85 of Rising Sun, MD passed away on July 5, 2018. She was born on February 18, 1933 in Conestoga, PA to the late Dan Oscar Thomas and Grace Miriam (Miller) Thomas.

Betty, AKA Aunt Betts or Miss Betty, was one of few who graduated from New Valley Elementary School in Conowingo, MD which was a one room school house. She then went to Rising Sun High School where she was an athlete and played on their softball team. Betty had a warm and generous heart and worked to serve others. She grew up with three siblings and would always care for them. Betty began working for the Connelly Family at age 15 and later worked for Henkles and McCoy as a secretary for over 35 years. Later on, she worked as a Teacher's Assistant for Special Education for Cecil County Public Schools. Betty was a member of the Conowingo Baptist Church where she served as treasurer and she later became a member of Janes United Methodist Church where she volunteered her time and helped with their multiple committees. She was a member of the Red Hatters as well as the Garden Club. Betty will be remembered for her baking; her family and friends always referred to her as "Betty the Baker". She also loved to garden. She planted flowers and vegetables and focused on the landscaping around her home, which she found to be very therapeutic. In her spare time she enjoyed going shopping.
