Barry Jesse Barrentine, age 72, of Elkton, MD, passed away on the morning of January 13, 2012, with his loving wife by his side.

Born May 8, 1939, in Philadelphia, PA, Barry was the oldest of four children born to the late Jesse and Rita Barrentine. He graduated from Perkiomen Prep in Pennsylvania and attended the University of Alabama, majoring in Business. He was a lifelong entrepreneur and brilliant marketing and public relations consultant. His successful ventures included his work in Cayce Foundation at Virginia Beach, owning and operating an upscale furniture store called House of Walnut in California, a gourmet ice cream parlor in Virginia Beach, VA, and finally the private investigation firm, Quests, LTD, which he assumed control of upon his father's passing. It still thrives today, due in large to his wife who manages the office, and his dear friend and Director of Research, Hugh Maguire.

Barry was charming and always so full of life. His interests were passions, and there were many. He was a champion pool player and until recently owned the MAPPA Pool League. He was also the Senior State Champion in chess in both Delaware and Virginia. He was an avid reader and a confirmed buff on the subjects of genealogy, the Civil War, Edgar Cayce, spirituality, Russia, and of course, movies. His sporting obsessions were horseracing, Washington Redskins football and Cleveland Indians baseball.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rita & Jesse Barrentine; father in law, Alexander Vorozhtsov; brother, Roger Barrentine; first wife, Barbara and mother in law, Lina Andrienko.

Barry is survived by his beloved wife, Helena, whom he married on October 8, 1995; his children - daughters, Connie Barrentine (FL), Donna Hoke and her husband, Larry (FL), and Pace Campbell (DE); son, Alexander Barrentine (IL); step-son, Sergei Vorozhtsov and his wife, Olga of Russia; sisters, Pam Aqui and her husband, Michael (HI) and Lynn Ross, her partner, Mary Hamanick, and her daughter Jaimee Barrentine Min (DE); grandchildren; and great grandchildren. He will also be missed by many nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends. He was the doting and loving Dad to his past and present pets: cats, Fanya, Mishka, Manya, Will and Max; his rescued and rehabilitated squirrel, Sweet Pea; and his peacocks, Tony and Rocky.

Services will be held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at R.T. Foard and Jones, Inc., 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE 19711, where friends and family may call one hour prior. Grave side service at 11 AM on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Lower Brandywine Cemetery on Route 52. Reception after burial service.
