Thank you for your support during this difficult time. Please enhance this tribute to Sandra by adding your memories and photos.

Sandra L. (Cooke) Bloom of Newark, DE, age 86, died peacefully Friday, January 22, 2021. Sandra was born on November 6, 1934 in New Orleans, LA to the late Austin Cooke and Lucile A. (Worsham) Cooke.

As a native of New Orleans, Sandra was very proud of her Louisiana heritage. She hosted many Mardi Gras parties, and brought some of her hometown to her northern friends. She graduated from Eleanor McMain High School in New Orleans. She then attended H. Sophie Newcomb College of Tulane University, where she was a member of Phi Mu sorority. She was a pre-school teacher in New Orleans and in Newark. Sandra was an amazing homemaker, who enjoyed baking and gardening. She was also an incredible seamstress, especially making children's clothing. She was very active at St. Thomas Episcopal Church and was a member for almost 50 years. She doted constantly on her grandchildren.

Sandra is survived by her children, Lisa, Scott (Larry), Brent, and Tori (Mike); her grandchildren Brittanie, Meghan, Lindsay, Chelsea, Rebecca and Ryan; eight great grandchildren with another on the way; her sister Gayle; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Sandra was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; daughter, Heather; sister, Cynthia; and brother, Austin II.

The family would like to thank offices of Dr. Glassner, Dr. Lenhard, and Dr. Ko. Special thanks to Susan, Carl and Elaine at Regency Square apartments. Ashley and her family at Nick and Joe's. Her personal Uber driver Brad. Her surrogate family of Eka, Ilias and Natalie. Sally who kept Mom loaded with groceries and laughs. Maria who kept her connected spiritually when she could no longer attend church in person. Thank you all for playing an important part in her life and all you did for her.

Due to COVID, services for Sandra will be held at a later date at St. Thomas Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to "American Diabetes Association" and sent in care of R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 W. Main Street, Newark, DE 19711.

Condolence & Memory Journal

I was so sorry to hear of the loss of your sweet mom, Tori. I have such fond memories of spending the night at your house in high school and waking up and chatting with her in the kitchen. She was such a kind person. I also remember flying for the first time with you and your mom to New Orleans. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time.
